It is
a Grade I listed building. The
Church dominates the village square at the centre of Wrotham, a village of
just under 800 households and some 2,500 inhabitants, lying on the
It is the second church to be built on the site, the first dating back to the middle of the 10th century, and has always been dedicated to St George, which was relatively rare at the time of its consecration.
CHURCH ACCESS
Access to St George's Church
Works to install accessible, step free access to St George's has
begun and the main entrance through the porch is closed during
the week and is OPEN FOR
SUNDAY SERVICES. Please use the rear entrance gate
on the High Street opposite the village hall during the week. Access to the
church is via the churchyard, walking across the grass, around
the east end of the church and entering via the south door into
the chancel. Please follow directions/signage in place and take
care entering the church during this time.
It is planned that
the works will be complete by Thursday 17th October.
The church is
still open from 9.30am until 4.00pm.
