It is
a Grade I listed building. The
Church dominates the village square at the centre of Wrotham, a village of
just under 800 households and some 2,500 inhabitants, lying on the
It is the second church to be built on the site, the first dating back to the middle of the 10th century, and has always been dedicated to St George, which was relatively rare at the time of its consecration.
Access for all to St George's Church
Step free access, via the top entrance to the churchyard
(entrance opposite the Village Hall), to the church is now
open. The lighting for the path is now installed and comes on
with the main outside lights in the evening. The lighting under the tower comes on as you approach.
Ramps are now installed, one at the entrance to the main door
and one from the Nave to the Chancel (Through the Rood Screen).
To exit at the main door there is a portable ramp that can be
found next to the door to use. (Due to the design of the door, a
permanant ramp cannot be installed on the nave side)
The church is normally open from 9.30am until dusk.
